English/Literacy
At Redwoodtown School, our English and Literacy program is designed to equip students with the essential skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening, empowering them to thrive in a diverse and ever-changing world.
We are proud to incorporate Structured Literacy into our approach, a research-based method that provides explicit and systematic instruction in phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. This approach helps students build strong reading skills from the ground up, ensuring they can decode words confidently, understand the meaning behind them, and apply them in both written and spoken language.
Our programs emphasizes fostering a love for reading and storytelling, alongside building critical thinking and effective communication skills. Through a balanced literacy approach, students engage with a wide range of texts, explore creative and functional writing, and develop their oral language abilities in meaningful and authentic contexts.
